Graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1983 from Escola Superior de Medicina Veterinária, in Lisbon.
He began his professional life as a pathologist and researcher at Laboratório Nacional de Investigação Veterinária, in Lisbon. He received a scholarship from the Luso-American Foundation for Development, having trained in 1986 at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, in Greenport, United States of America.
Published several national and international papers in epidemiology of African Swine Fever.

Worked for 22 year at Cargill Portugal, where over the years he had different functions: between 1988 and 1992 he was responsible for the technical assistance to customers and for formulating and quality control; between 1992 and 1995 he was Deputy Director-General of the company in Portugal; between 1995 and 2010 he was responsible for the business development of milk ruminants, for the implementation of enterprise technologies associated with the production of milk and the technical training of the sales teams, a position extended to the company Cargill España (Spain) between 1998 and 2001.
Currently, he is an independent Consultant, providing services of product development and technical assistance to animal feeding companies, whether collaborating in the area of Productive Medicine, focused on optimizing the nutritional and economic value of the feeding of ruminants and in the study of cos-effective solutions in this area for the production of healthy and sustainable milk and meat. |
He collaborates with INTERPEC in the area of animal nutrition.
